We are looking to build a fantastic facility for the Mairehau Community - more details on Our Vision Page. This will be more than a hall - we want to create a heart for Mairehau, a hub where people can gather, gain information on local events, seek help and join together as the vibrant, multi-cultural community it is. It will also provide a much needed emergency centre for our community and allow us to cater for our neighbouring eastern suburbs whanau.
We have formed a Charitable Trust to manage the fundraising, building and management of the proposed Mairehau Primary School and Community Hall. |

We all having something to share
It's a big target - $2m in total - and these are tough times but we are up for the challenge and eager to prove to our children and our community what is possible through well directed enthusiasm, belief and sheer hard work! We see this project as a developer of pride in the Mairehau name, of joining together people from all around the country and the world, and of a symbol of the power of aspiration and belief. We're so lucky that the ground we want to use hasn't been damaged in the ongoing quakes so we can build soon - we just need to reach that target. So YES we can do it! |

 Support from many areas!
Brendon Burns - Past MP for Christchurch Central As your local MP I am asked to support a lot of good causes but few inspire me as much as the energetic group dedicated to fundraising to create a the new community centre based at Mairehau Primary School. I have come to know this group over the last three years and have been hugely impressed with its commitment to this important project.
I think this project embodies the sort of thinking we need to support as we rebuild Christchurch; one that makes the widest possible use of facilities in a community be it sited on school grounds, Council-owned, or provided by churches and other non-governmental organisations. I ask that you give every support to this wonderful project.
